Did drug lords Griselda Blanco, Pablo Escobar know each other?

Both the drug lords began their business in the city of Medellin

Griselda Blanco is a Columbian drug lord who ran a cocaine empire in the heart of America, Miami, during the 1970s.

At the peak of her career, her empire spanned from New York to California, earning the title of "the godmother of cocaine", "Al-Madrino". She reportedly earned tens of millions of dollars every month, womanandhome reported.

Whereas Pablo Escobar known as "Al-Padrino" and "the godfather of cocaine" was the founder and leader of the Medellin cartel.

Escobar, who later ventured into politics, is one of the wealthiest criminals in history. He monopolised his drug cartel in the US in the late 1980s and 1990s.

It is believed that much of his wealth is still not discovered, as to hide it, he would bury it in the ground.

Did Griselda Blanco, Pablo Escobar know each other?

Both Griselda and Escobar worked in the same field so it is highly likely that they knew each other. Both of them began their business in the city of Medellin.

According to some news sources, Griselda was five years older than Escobar, and she began her drug business when Escobar was merely a car thief.

However, some reports suggest that Griselda was at one point a member of the Medellin cartel, and when she moved to Miami, she still had business relations with Escobar's cartel.

Some others suggest that they were rivals and lovers. But again, all of these are just theories and have no proof.

Currently, a series on the life of Griselda is airing on Netflix, directed and written by the same person who made the series "Narcos," based on the life of Pablo Escobar.
