A man in his 20s was caught by the police after trying to strangle his girlfriend during an argument.

Seoul Dongdaemun Police Station announced on the 2nd that it had applied for an arrest warrant for Mr. Jang, in his 20s, on charges of attempted murder and property damage.

According to the police, Mr. Jang moved out of Mr. A's house around 2:30 pm the previous day when her girlfriend, Mr. A, called the police, telling her to “get out of her house.”

Mr. Jang, who returned around 5 p.m., became enraged when he encountered Mr. A, and strangled Mr. A in the building's elevator and stairwell before being arrested as a red-handed criminal.

Mr. Jang is also accused of taking Mr. A's cell phone and breaking it.

The police are investigating Mr. Jang's detailed motive for the crime.
