In Suzhou, eastern China, which was hit by a sudden cold wave and even rain, an accident occurred on the 24rd when more than 100 cars were tangled together and collided as the roads froze during rush hour.

According to the public security authorities of Suzhou City, Jiangsu Province, a multiple collision accident occurred at the Xingtang intersection in the Suzhou Industrial Complex around 7 a.m. (local time) on this day.

Local authorities said that three people were injured in the accident and taken to the hospital, and other than six people suffering minor abrasions, there were no serious injuries.

Jiangsu TV, a local media, reported, "It is understood that an accident occurred in which about 100 cars collided, and some drivers and passengers suffered minor injuries, but there were no serious injuries."

Many parts of China have been experiencing a surprise cold wave since last weekend, at the end of the Lunar New Year holiday. Education authorities in Jiangsu Province also ordered the closure of some kindergartens and schools in the province due to bad weather.

The Jiangsu Provincial Meteorological Observatory announced the previous day that it would maintain an orange alert, the second highest warning level, saying there was a high possibility of road icing throughout the province, including southeastern Suzhou.

Suzhou public security authorities also urged drivers to be careful, saying, "Due to the recent drop in temperature and the impact of rain, roads are slippery and traffic conditions are complicated."
