Sarfaraz Khan is an Indian international cricketer who plays for the Indian national cricket team in Test cricket. He plays for Mumbai in domestic cricket and has also represented Delhi Capitals, Punjab Kings, and Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Sarfaraz represented India in the ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup in 2014 and 2016. He is an aggressive right-handed batter, a part-time spinner, and an occasional wicket-keeper.
Early life and career
Sarfaraz was born on 27 October 1997 in Mumbai, India. He is the son of Naushad Khan, a former Mumbai cricketer. Sarfaraz started playing cricket at a young age and was soon identified as a talented batsman. He made his first-class debut for Mumbai in 2014 and scored 301 runs in his debut match. He continued to score heavily in domestic cricket and was soon considered one of the most promising young batsmen in India.
International career
Sarfaraz made his international debut for India in 2023 against New Zealand. He scored 131 runs in the first innings and 54 runs in the second innings, helping India win the match by 10 wickets. Sarfaraz has since played 3 Tests for India and has scored 235 runs at an average of 47.00.
Domestic career
Sarfaraz has been a prolific run-scorer in domestic cricket. He has scored over 10,000 runs in first-class cricket at an average of 57.64.
