Singer and actress Hyeri has issued a public apology for the confusion and controversy sparked by her social media posts following the emergence of dating rumors involving her ex-boyfriend, actor Ryu Jun-yeol and actress Han So-hee.
Hyeri took to her social media Monday to express her remorse, stating, "I sincerely apologize for the speculation and controversy caused by my personal emotions over the past few days."
She said that she had not fully considered the impact of her seemingly minor actions. "I deeply apologize to anyone who was harmed because of me."
Amid the rumors of Ryu's new romance with Han, Hyeri's cryptic post on March 15 saying "interesting" had drawn significant attention. Ryu and Han have since confirmed their relationship.
Referencing her breakup with Ryu, which became public last November, Hyeri said, "Our decision (to part ways) was not made hastily, and even after the breakup news was released, we had discussions about giving it another chance," she said. However, she clarified that they have not been in contact since those conversations.
Hyeri also admitted that her emotional reaction caused unintentional harm. "I am sorry once again for causing hurt through a momentary emotion," she said, adding that she had been silent about her actions as their discussions were too private and she feared increasing fatigue from the speculation.
Hyeri and Ryu, who first worked together on the 2016 drama "Reply 1988," went public with their relationship in 2017 but announced their separation in November. At the time, their agency, C-JeS Studio, confirmed the breakup.
